About Me

Hello and welcome! My hope is that whoever is interested in this work is just as motivated as I am to unify, understand and connect with themselves and our community.

I’m a writer, editor, storyteller, and content creator with a lifelong passion for words and expression. My unique upbringing as a first-generation Palestinian-American inspired the need to deeply understand human behavior as it relates to our identity.

I have over a decade of experience in media and advertising at some of the world’s most well-known media corporations such as Starcom, BBC America, and Nickelodeon Networks. All of which have been extremely influential in driving me to this point! The media world is fascinating, fast-paced, demanding, and rewarding. The array of people you meet, the communication skills you build, and the creative outlets you’re given are invaluable.

I’ve earned my degree in Communications, Media Studies and Psychology from New York's Fordham University, and am currently pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Psychology. The interest stems from the commitment I have to better understand myself, my community and help improve our sense of purpose while shifting the narratives of old belief systems. With a heavy focus on Middle Eastern/Arab identity, my intention is to learn more about our collective rooted conditioning and help elevate the roles and equality of Middle Eastern, third-culture, Muslim, and minority women (and men). Through proven, researched, empowering methods and dialogue, I’m optimistic about what we can achieve together.

In 2016, I helped build and expand what quickly became the fastest growing online platform created by and for Muslim and minority women in the United States. With over one million unique views in under 3 years, MissMuslim continues to make monumental waves in a community that is so resistant to change. It is because of our dedication and innate passion for helping others who are silently struggling with issues seen as taboo within the community, that we’re able to reach such a large audience and make a vast difference in the lives of, particularly Western-Muslim Millennials. MissMuslim’s work and message have been showcased in multiple mainstream media outlets and has resonated with so many people, gaining widespread support for the site’s mission.

I’m extremely grateful for the instant bond the founder of MissMuslim, Jenan Matari, and I had. We connected over our mutual drive to serve our community and share people’s relatable stories through a safe, judgment-free platform. Jenan is one of the people who I will credit over and over for pushing me beyond my limits, believing in my vision, and encouraging me to explore the depth of our cultural conditioning through a psychological and societal lens.

My personal experience of living and traveling extensively between the United States and the Middle East throughout my life has been another major influence in my perspective. It allowed me to expand my mindset, adapt to any environment, and understand a broad spectrum of personalities, ideologies, beliefs, and cultures. This is pivotal when addressing sensitive topics to an audience that embodies generations of conservative principles.

Thank you for visiting, caring about our collective progression and success as much as I do. Your support reaffirms my belief that growth starts with learning, discomfort, and connection.
